Peer support, mentorship, and community resources for amputees and limb-different individuals at every stage.

  • With Amputee Coalition you can request peer support, join monthly virtual support group meetings on Zoom, and even find local and national resources! Go to Amputee Coalition and check under the Find Support tab!

  • The AMP'D UP211 Podcast is proud to feature extraordinary individuals in the Limb Loss Community. Their episodes feature athletes, celebrities, public speakers, practitioners, and innovators in the world of prosthetics.

GRANTS & FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

Funding opportunities that help offset the cost of prosthetics, sports equipment, and adaptive care.

  • Provides grants to individuals with limb loss who lack the financial means to obtain a prosthetic device and have exhausted other resources. R2W

  • Limbs for Life is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to providing fully-functional prosthetic care for individuals who cannot otherwise afford it and raising awareness of the challenges facing amputees.

  • The Heather Abbott Foundation helps provide customized prostheses to those who have suffered limb loss through traumatic circumstances.

  • Life of Motion works with skilled clinicians and prosthetic clinics throughout the Southwestern United States and beyond who donate their time and energy to help provide financial assistance and prosthetic care to those in need. Through donation coordination, volunteer work, event fundraising, care coordination, and more, Life of Motion is dedicated to helping amputees bridge the financial gap in obtaining prosthesis.

  • Challenged Athletes Foundation – Offers adaptive sports events, community programs, training opportunities, and sport resources for athletes at all levels.

  • Move United uses sports to push what's possible so everyone, regardless of ability, has equal access to sports and recreation in their community. Established in 1956, Move United is proud to serve wounded warfighters, youth and adults with disabilities.

  • Angel City Sports is a Los Angeles-based non-profit that provides year-round adaptive sports opportunities for kids, adults, and veterans with physical disabilities or visual impairments. In addition, Angel City Sports provides free equipment, coaching, and competitive opportunities.

    Since opening, Angel City Sports has provided over 28,000 athlete experiences. Annually, ACS provides 250 clinics per year, across 25 sports.

  • Dare2tri is a Chicago-based nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals with physical disabilities and visual impairments. Through the power of swimming, biking, and running, we build confidence, foster community, and promote health and wellness.

  • Since 1970, we’ve led the way in redefining adaptive outdoor experiences. We’ve helped participants reignite a passion for playing and competing in the great outdoors. We’ve re-invented adaptive equipment, technology and coaching methods. And we’ve helped our athletes, and the world, #RethinkAbility NASD

  • They offer grants in the form of activewear prosthetics to those who have suffered the loss of a limb to sarcoma cancer or other affiliated diseases.

    The Move For Jenn Foundation also aims to find a cure for sarcoma and better treatment options for sarcoma patients.  Targeted research, awareness, and advocacy are three core objectives that make the foundation unique.

Work, Life & Accessibility

  • Think College! is a project of the Institute for Community Inclusion at the University of Massachusetts Boston, funded in part by an ACL Project of National Significance grant, dedicated to providing information about college options for people with disabilities.

  • Ramping Up 4 Work aims to encourage, empower and motivate people experiencing limb loss to gain and/or maintain employment, through the provision of information, advice and one-on-one peer mentoring. This is delivered through face-to-face and telephone support provided by Peer Mentors.

  • JAN is the leading source of free, expert, and confidential guidance on workplace accommodations. Need assistance exploring accommodation solutions? Ask JAN!

  • Social Security's Ticket to Work(Ticket) Program supports career development for people ages 18 through 64 who receive Social Security disability benefits and want to work. The Ticket Program is free and voluntary. It helps people with disabilities move toward financial independence and connects them with the services and support they need to succeed in the workforce.

  • O*NET Online Department of Labor includes information on skills, abilities, knowledge, work activities, and interests associated with more than 900 occupations.
